Debbie Lluch worked her way up from hostess to general manager at a Town Center Japanese bistro. The hours were long. They included weekends. She was on her feet all the time.
“I felt like I could do something better with myself,” she said.
She applied for a temporary position through The Lee Group, an elite staffing and search firm that serves companies from Virginia Beach to Richmond. After completing a three-month assignment in human resources at STIHL, Lluch was asked if she wanted to join the staff at The Lee Group.
Today she’s a Staffing Manager in the Virginia Beach office.
“I love it here,” she says. “I run into lots of different type of people. I like helping them. I like making sure I get the right people in the right seats. I like seeing someone go permanent and seeing them grow.”
Lluch advises candidates to keep their resumes updated. “And be yourself,” she says. “Be authentic.”
Lluch and her husband, Bryan, live in Virginia Beach. She enjoys staying active and going to the gym regularly. Lluch also likes to travel and is originally from the Philippines but hasn’t been back there for 16 years.
Lluch plans to make human resources her longtime career, adding, “I like to understand the candidate and the company side and make it fair and even for everyone.”
