Ananis Santiago Lugo

The Lee Group, a leading provider of professional staffing and recruiting services, announced today that Ananis Santiago Lugo has been promoted to Business Development Manager in the firm’s Richmond, Va. office. In this role, Santiago Lugo supports regional operations of The Lee Group while helping companies in the greater Richmond area identify their staffing needs and helping source employees to fill them.

“At The Lee Group, we are in the people business,” Santiago Lugo said. “In this position specifically, it's about helping the companies and their leadership uncover what people they need to be successful and showing them that we are there for them, to help their business grow one employee at a time.”

Santiago Lugo serves as the bridge between companies with hiring needs and the people who are looking for jobs, she said.

Originally from Yauco, Puerto Rico, Santiago Lugo spent 20 years working in the hospitality industry – a market that prepared her well for her new position at The Lee Group. She draws many similarities between the roles, noting that hospitality is about making people feel good, making them feel special and having a fabulous experience. Working in the staffing industry – particularly at The Lee Group – is also about making people feel good.

“Coming from the hospitality industry, everything was about helping others and being there for others,” said Santiago Lugo. “I brought that passion to the staffing industry. What drives me is wanting to make a difference in people's lives.”

Santiago Lugo embraces The Lee Group difference and sees it as giving hope and offering new beginnings to people who want to improve their lives and be their best.

“People spend more time in their work than they do sometimes at home,” Santiago Lugo said. “If you want to have people committed to do what they need to do in their job and to your company, they have to be satisfied, and you have to offer them a sense of belonging, and show them that what they do matters.”

Fluent in English and Spanish, Santiago Lugo especially enjoys serving Hispanic customers and individuals who are looking for staffing assistance.

“Being bilingual opens doors,” she said. “With the large Hispanic population in our area, companies often notice your last name and take comfort knowing that you can help them and communicate with them in their native language.”

Away from the office, Santiago Lugo enjoys spending time with her son Alejandro, reading and travel – having visited more than 20 countries in Europe, South America, North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
